As the first post to my blog, I’m currently awaiting for an approval from one of my client’s hosting company for a domain change. This brings up the topic of hosting companies.
There are a bunch of web hosting companies out there, most of which offers competitive low prices ranging from $1.00 to $15.00 a year. While these servers may look enticing for a business owner to cut costs, dealing with the control panel may be an issue. Some comes with an integrated custom control panel while other uses a more generic control panel software such as cPanel. I’d much prefer using cPanel as I am sure most of you as well than to log into a client’s hosting account and see an administrative section with buttons and notices/messages all over the place.
Having to deal with these types of hosting companies can be very time consuming for any web developer because they would have to learn how to navigate through the administrative area, and understand the functions of each control seen on the control panel software and because of this, we might even give a higher quote for our time spent learning how to navigate around to change some settings around.

Fasthosts processes are completely defective. Whoever instituted these was committed a shameless act of profiteering. In fact, they fail to notify domain technical contacts when a domain is about to expire. Test them prior to purchasing their domain services. Email escalations@fasthosts.co.uk and see if your email is handled or alternatively if you get an example of how hard someone is to reach! Fasthosts throws up many roadblocks such that technical support is virtually inaccessible. My personal recommendation any choice other than Fasthosts is a good one. Avoid as fast as your feet can carry you.
This really is a really excellent resource that you’re offering and you also provides it away totally free. I like to see websites that understand the value of providing a outstanding resource for free. I really liked reading your post. Bless you!
